‘It could be you’ counting the cash!
Do you remember the first ever National Lottery Draw? At 7 pm on Saturday 19th of November 1994 (yes it was more than 16 years ago!) a nation sat glued to the TV, tickets in hand, oohing and ahhing as each number was revealed. ‘It could be you’ the publicity told us. We really thought it could. We still do. With odds of nearly 14 million to one, of course the chances are slight but people do win. Since that first night hosted by Noel ‘Deal or no Deal’ Edmonds more than £37.5 billion has been paid out in prizes and over 2,400 millionaires or multi-millionaires have been created.
The history of ‘flying money’
You may be a fan of BBC Radio 4′s ‘A History of the World in 100 Objects’. Written and presented by British Museum director Neil MacGregor the programmes offer 15-minute presentations on objects of ancient art, technology or industry that are held by the British Museum and considered of significant interest.
